  • Brokeback Mountain…

I saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday, and yo know what.  I was not
happy at all.  I was very dissappointed by this movie.

My man, in Asia, made a fantastic looking film, but I have to say it
definitely was not worthy of Best Picture.  I have to say, Crash
was more worth than Brokeback was, and if at all the other movies
    also…

Man I was mad. I mean that movie was so hyped up and everything and yet
when I went to this movie I was ready to be blown away.  I was
ready to watch this movie that was multi-layerd, and super deep.
I was ready to have a look at a film that tackled homesexual relations
in the South in the 60s.  But really it was more a good ol
fashioned star-crossed lovers, tradgiv love story.

I was not too happy when I left.  I didn’t shed a tear.  It
was a very tender and touching relationship, but that was it.
There was maybe 5mins on what it is like to be Homosexual in the 60s,
    but that was it.

Don’t get me wrong, it still is a good movie.  But it was not
worth all the depth and the arguments, that the movie caused.  And
it would not have been worth the Oscar.

Though I have to say, that the sex scene between Jake Gyllenhall, and
Heath Ledger was done in a very tasteful way.  And it was quite
passionate and very well done.  I was suprised by that scene in
some way.  I knew when it was coming, and when it came.  It
was perfect.  Lee Ang did a great job with that.

But, I have to way say Hulk, was a film that dealt with Cloning, and
messing with nature more than Brokeback Mountain dealt with
    homesexuality.

Out of 10, I give Brokeback a 7.  A great movie, well acted and well shot, but it lacked depth and structure.

  • I have officially moved out of my office at Lingnan, after I vacated
the premises and left my Job after November 2005. By moving out, I mean
they actually packed my stuff for me, paid someone to take all my stuff
by van to my home.  Yeah, it has taken me 5 months for
them to kick my ass out of that office.  It has been more fun
defying the organizations, and actually sticking it to the man.

Ha.  I did enjoy my time quite a lot when I was there, but you kow
what.  I was unceremoniously re-hired and fired within a month
again at that school and I have bitter bitter feelings about that
situation.  So that last impression is not sitting well with me
    anymore…

So you know what?  Fuck you….

  • Life is Good…

The sweet smell of your perfume filled my nostrils with joy as I held
you in my arms.  As you sat there and looked deep into my eyes, I
stared back.  Thinking, I must have done something right in my
life. That view, the smog, everything that was there.  The light,
the night, the cool feel of the air, your hand, holding mine, was that
perfect or what?  Your hair, flowing in the wind… The rustling
trees.  Nothing but the quiet of the Hallways, and just the sounds
    of us, echoing down.

    Priceless.

It’s better – you get no
fucking adverts and no fucking technical awards. Just Jon Stewart and
the big awards. Who cares about the speeches of some speccy technical
chap? Not me. I want to see tits and famous people.

  • Crash

Buttons came home last night to the shock and dismay of Solomon.
But I think he will eventually like him.  I have a good even 4
cats now and that is enough.  Sigh… Four does seem like a
lot.  So if there is someone who would like one.. Give me a
    call… ha…

So I watched the Oscars this morning,  I didn’t get up early
enough for the 6am arrival interviews on E! but I did watch the whole
telecast.  TVB Pearl finally decided to show the whole damn thing,
They usualy cut it after 2 hours and go back to normal
programming.  But today they did something brave; the right thing.

    OSCAR SPOILERS!

I am so happy George Clooney, won an Oscar
finally.  That guy does some good work, and he is so smooth.
His speech wasa fantastic piece of oratory… I was really impressed…
Man, He is so the man…

As for me, I am super excited that Crash won for best Picture.
There are amazing movies that had a lot of guts in being made.
And I applaud the people who voted for it.  Man what an amazing
night.  Jon Stewart was great.  he was hella funny,
eventhough I do not think a lot of people got some of his jokes.

I really wished Joaquin Phoenix would have won, I really liked Walk the
line.  But having said that, It did look to be Phillip Seymoore
Hoffman’s year, since he has won every other damn award possible.
But I am happy Reese Witherspoon won too…

Stewart had some great montages, and some great bits.  “Walk the
Line, is Ray with White People.” Pan to see Jamie Foxx laughing.
    hard.  Great comedy…

I raelly wanted George Clooney to with the tripple Crown, cause Good
Night and Good Luck, looks stunning.  The direction is amazing,
and the Script rules too.  Sigh.  And the script for the same
    movie is fantastic…

Hope it comes out in Hong Kong soon.  I want to show all journaists here how it is done….

    End Spoilers…

All in all good fun.  It was a little early to be awake in the
morning, but I had fun, and dammit, I’m gonna keep it that way today…
Gonna record Quick Dry hopefully, after my little recording room fiasco
last week.  That was tough, new room, new song, and just
claustrophobia… I hope to do better this week… With a better, and
more familiar song.  Something I can get into…

  • ANDREW LIH…

One of my professors is leaving Hong Kong after a few years of living and teaching in here.

He is Andrew Lih, one of the best damn teachers I have had in my life.
I do not think that there are a lot of my instructors whom I can call
my friend but I know that he has quickly become one of those people.

He has taught me in a semester more than I though I could learn in a
semester.  This man has such an amazing mind, and if you ever cross
paths with him, I guarantee that you are in for a treat.

    Andrew,

Thanks for one of the best semesters I’ve had in School.  JMSC will
your presence in our hallways…  Take care, and good luck in Beijing.
Make sure you come back and visit us from time to time, We will try our
best to make our way to the Mainland.

    Cheeres,

    What are your rights? ‘D’oh’

Thu Mar 2, 8:40 AM ET

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Most Americans have an easier time
naming members of the cartoon Simpson family than listing the
five freedoms granted by the nation’s founders, a survey by a
    museum released on Wednesday said.

Here’s a hint: one of them is not the right to own and
raise pets, an error committed by one in five respondents.

Half of 1,000 Americans randomly surveyed by the McCormick
Tribune Freedom Museum could name at least two of the five
members of Fox Television’s Simpson family, the stars of the
    network’s long-running show.

But just 28 percent of respondents could name more than one
of the five freedoms listed in the U.S. Constitution’s First
Amendment — about the same proportion that could name all five
Simpson family members or could recall the three judges on Fox
    TV’s top-rated “American Idol.”

Just 8 percent could recall three First Amendment freedoms.

Two-thirds of respondents did remember freedom of speech as
one of five rights in the First Amendment, but just one person
    accurately named all five.

“These survey results clearly demonstrate that many
Americans don’t have an understanding of the freedoms they
regularly enjoy,” said executive director Dave Anderson of the
museum, which opens on April 11 in Chicago.

Freedom of religion was recalled by 24 percent, freedom of
the press by 11 percent, freedom of assembly by 10 percent, and
freedom to petition for redress of grievances (right to a day
    in court) by 1 percent.

Some participants displayed comical ignorance such as the
38 percent who believed the right not to incriminate yourself
    – “taking the 5th” in lawyer lingo — was granted by the First
    Amendment rather than the Fifth.

Among other rights not mentioned in the Constitution but
listed by some respondents was the right to drive and the right
    to have pets.

The survey, conducted January 20-22, had an error margin of
plus or minus 3 percentage points.

In case you forgot, the Simpson clan’s names are Homer
(owner of that exclamation of ignorance, “D’oh”), Marge, Bart,
    Lisa and Maggie.
